SuitabilityThis ride is not for beginners or those who hate hill climbs, but for the rider who is gradually becoming more confident with climbing and would like a challenge without any really big climbs.
Short DescriptionRide to corner M2 & Pennant Hills Rd on quiet back streets, along M2 to Lane Cove River Park & return via Macquarie Uni.
Full DescriptionThis ride heads to the M2/Pennant Hills Rd corner is uphill and the route we use requires some local knowledge (please see the cue sheet). Once at the M2 there is a fast downwhill all the way to the famous M2 tunnel and then a short climb to the Browns Waterhole bike track - which we do not take, but continue through the toll gates and onwards to Delhi Rd.

Delhi Rd has some narrow sections of single lane road, but is mostly downhill so move the pace along here! It is advisable towards the big descent near the end to block the traffic behind so no-one tries to pass on the S bends down the hill. At the bottom turn into the park. Now it's a nice gentle climb out of the park, then use the bike path to go under Lane Cove Rd and out onto the (shared) footpath on the other side, then into Fontenoy Rd. On the way back to Macquarie Uni there is some traffic in Talavera and Herring Rds so be careful but assert your rights. Pass thorugh the Uni climbing out the Culloden Rd exit and onto Waterloo rd, then left into Vimiera and back to the start.
