Riding the Cycle Route is easy because it is well signposted.
Here are a few pointers that may help.
-
The route is predominantly flat, although their are some
hills where the route climbs up to cross the water pipeline south of Guildford
Station and the railway bridge south of Canley Vale Station.
-
While some long sections are away from traffic there are
a significant number of on-road sections or with road crossings. Take particular
care at these points.
-
The route crosses a number of creeks via bridges. Be careful
that the each bridge is not covered by storm or flood water when you cross.
This is particularly important crossing Cabramatta Creek north of Warwick
Farm. Flood debris have been sighted above the bridge deck level.
- In many places along the route you will encounter bollards which are
posts intended to stop motor vehicles. Most are placed in the centre of the path although
a few are towards the edge. Be carefull of bollards at all times. They are not painted
a bright colour nor do they have reflective material.
-
At present the ends of the cycle route are not completed.
-
When heading south look for the start of the cycle path running
beside Harris Park Station on the eastern side of the line.
-
When heading north from Liverpool look for the start at the
corner of Goulburn St and Elizabeth St outside Liverpool Hospital.
-
There are few parks with facilities along the route. You
will not find it easy to find toilets or taps to refill your drinking bottle.
-
Be careful of reversing vehicles in the places where cars
are parking.
-
Ring your bell as you approach behind other path users so
they know you are coming.
-
Keep to the left of the centre of the cycle path as you travel.
This is for the safety of both you and others.
-
Enjoy your cycling!
