‘More than middle-aged men in Lycra’: Labor eyes bikes to beat congestion

Labor’s new spokeswoman for active transport Jo Haylen will look to densely populated cities across Japan as inspiration to improve Sydney’s crippling congestion through cycling and walking.

Ms Haylen was one of seven MPs promoted to the Opposition cabinet of 26 this week and handed the new portfolio.

“We’ve got to remember that cycling is about more than middle-aged men in Lycra, it’s a part of the solution to our city’s terrible congestion,” Ms Haylen said.
