Greenwich Point residents have been advised of proposals to upgrade the ferry wharf and access. Tony Stanley recently brought this to the attention of Bike North chat users. Apart from locals there are an increasing number of commuters and recreational riders using the wharf as it is a great way to cross the harbour to avoid city and suburban traffic. A number of Bike North rides use the crossing to or from Balmain and Woolwich/Hunters Hill.
Initial proposal details can be found HERE.
It appears that the proposed access is for stairs or a lift with the current ramp being disconnected for pedestrian or bike access. If that is confirmed we will be advocating to retain a ramp connection in some form. Drop-in sessions have been arranged by RMS at Mary Coulson Park (on the east side at the top of the wharf) at the following times:
Sunday 18 April between midday and 3pm, and Thursday 22 April between 2pm and 5pm.
If you can at all please drop in (good to be on the bike if possible), have a look at the concept design and give them your thoughts. If the weather is OK on these days, two Bike North rides (Cammeraygal Loop and Hunters Hill Loop) will be run enabling a brief drop in at the sessions on the way through. Check the calendar.
