Many thanks to John Williams for preparing and leading a varied three days of riding around, through and beyond Newcastle. Well chosen rendezvous points. Good company and rides enjoyed by all.
Although the forecast for the long weekend was iffy, the weather gods were kind and rain jackets were not needed whilst riding. The SW winds were challenging on our return to Stockton from Heatherbrae but the pastries sustained us, and we arrived back safely to Newcastle via the Ferry, all slightly wind burnt. Fernleigh Track was the gem as always, one can’t ever get tired of that Track. The bellbirds and whipbirds were particularly loud this past weekend. Pity about the Belmore coffee stop service – enough said.
Newcastle City has undergone many changes, it has lifted its game, it now has appeal with open areas, cycle paths, parks and building facades of yesteryear all spruced up. As the rides were not late finishing we were able to explore and visit the galleries and markets. The City boasts abundant restaurants and food outlets, it really is worth a visit, to experience the change. Thank you John for choosing Newcastle for the Autumn Classic.
