Upcoming Warringah Freeway Upgrade – Early Works Impacts and Detours

Anyone who has ridden around the Cammeray to North Sydney area must have noticed there is lots of disturbance and impacts on bicycle routes around the Cammeray to North Sydney area. Much of this  is due to early works of the Warringah Freeway Upgrade. Investigations and preparations for the construction yet to start. Bicycle NSW and Bike North are both stakeholders for this project and we are consulted on upcoming works for more significant detours / timeframes  and have long and frequent discussions about proposed detours for bike routes.  These detours are always subject to change, so it can be difficult for us to advise you in a timely fashion.

It is therefore useful to know that Upcoming Works is always reported on their website at https://caportal.com.au/rms/wht/upcoming-works. These are generally available by the weekend immediately before the week applicable.  We therefore will now let you know about upcoming works once the full details are available … but if this impacts you, do check their Upcoming Work on that weekend prior.

Next detour coming up:

What: Closure of the Warringah Freeway Miller Street on-ramp bike lane

When: Week commencing Monday 6 December for 3 days……. (maybe)

Why: Service and Utility relocation works

Detour map image as shown

NOTE: Temporary paths due to work sheds on Ernest St bike path are temporary but have been continually delayed. These sheds will be removed, and the path now scheduled to be reinstated for 6 December.
