Big Rides Day: a huge success!

We do love a Big Rides Day, don’t we!  Last Sunday, eighty people came out for companionship, exercise and a shared meal in the sunshine at Parramatta Park.

The fun started early with a photo competition – a ‘snapshot scavenger hunt’!  Seven organised rides headed out to take photos of hazards, selfies, coffee-stop-shots, or just something that caught our eye.  You can see many of the images on instagram here.

At the pre-arranged time, the rides all converged for a generous lunch, followed by a trivia quiz and a turn of the Cycling Without Age trishaw.

You know, it’s an exciting time to be part of Bike North.  I’ve written a separate article about that in News this week.  See that article to hear about six opportunities for you to connect with like-minded people, develop some new friendships, build extra richness into your life, and give back to the community.  We’d love to discuss these with you, if you’re interested.

Thank you to the many people who made the Big Ride Day so much fun.  We are very grateful to:

  • the weather gods for sunshine and a blue sky
  • the Social Committee (Christine Jessep, Theresa Gin, John Willams and David Vasey) for booking the venue and catering the event
  • the Ride Leaders who got us all there and safely home again (Geoff Young, Marc de Silva, Kerry Tipton, Sue Gynther, Olivia Fabbro, Paul Bower and Phill Hart)
  • Alison Pryor, our intrepid Coaching Coordinator, for organising the trivia quiz and photo competition
  • The Social Media Gurus for organising and judging and posting the photo competition
  • John Kelman for bringing the trishaw and encouraging us all to have a turn.
