I returned to cycling in 1978, during a year spent in the Netherlands, where kids learn to cycle to attend kindergarten, and status isn't linked to what brand of car you drive.

I aim to cycle whenever that is the best way to get there and back, and keep the car for heavy shopping and long distances. Many of my bikes have mudguards, racks and lights. Many have little wheels. Some fold.

I like to travel slowly enough to look around, but far enough to impress myself. Best of all, I enjoy long distance touring in Europe
