A great ride for those who wish to have a gentle day on the bike. The route takes us on a circle of Homebush Bay in either direction. We explore many of the great cycleways of Sydney Olympic Park, going to different places each time we do the ride. The park has many features such as lookouts, ponds, creeks and monuments. Overall the ride spends about 80% of the time on Shared User Paths and the rest of the time on quiet roads.
The ride is run with a leader and a sweep rider with regular regrouping to keep everyone together. There is always someone to help with flat tyres or any minor mechanical problems. All you need to bring along is your helmet and bike in good condition (with the tyres pumped up). A water bottle is recommended too.
We enjoy a coffee stop approximately half way through the ride at one of the cafes around the Olympic Park precinct. The choice of coffee stop depends on the direction of travel and what other events are happening at the time. Bring a few dollars for a coffee and cake. The ride takes about 3 hours in total.
This is a suitable ride to bring your adult friends or family who are beginner cyclists or for those who are just getting back on the bike after some time off. It is also suitable for children OVER 12 accompanied by an adult carer who cycles with the teenager at all times.
We look forward to seeing you and your friends on this ride which runs regularly on our program.
