Ride With GPS Map/Cue/Profile/TCX/GPX

Riders leave Sydney Harbour and head to Lane Cove where the ride turns toward Gladesville bridge crossing Lane Cove River and the Parramatta River. It continues through Ashfield and Hurlstone Park to reach the Cooks River. The ride follows along the Cooks River until it reaches Tempe, then heads to Mascot and onwards through Kensington to Centennial for an optional lap or two. At this point the ride will head back toward Sydney Harbour via Bourke St, Cathedral St, the Domain, and across the Cahill Express Walk and Harbour Bridge. This ride was inspired by the ride “Big City Loop”, but as a cross city version of it. It shares many route segments with “Big City Loop”, and others with “Five Rivers to Como”. The Cooks River and Centennial Park is a core part of both the “Big City Loop” and this ride. Coffee can be enjoyed at a Café in Yeo Park at Ashfield, alternately in Centennial Park. Allow for 4 to 5.5 hours including ride briefing, regroups, and coffee at a Moderate 22 kmh pace. This ride can also be enjoyed at a more Steady pace of 19kmh, but add additional time. Riders are to have geared road bikes or geared flat bar road bikes due to the hilly nature of ride sections. While there are shared paths, riders also need to be comfortable cycling on the road/road shoulder with traffic. Where there are shared paths, the ride leader may choose to use either the available shared path or to be on the road. Route hazards include on road/path items such as bollards, sticks etc. Riders to be particularly careful on shared paths with pedestrians and dogs that may unexpectedly move in front of the rider. The ride does pass near or through several railway stations which would provide options for riders to leave the ride. Check how trackwork might impact these options for the day. Optionally riders could turn around at any point and retrace the route, but please let the ride leader know BEFORE you leave the ride
