Berowra Banana and Marramarra NP

Commencing at Hornsby Pool Park we ride via the Old Pacific Highway to the Berowra Waters turnoff and descend to the Berowra Waters ferry crossing. A 3.5km climb sees us to the top of the Berrilee Ridge where we follow quiet backroads through Berrilee, Arcadia and Fiddletown to the edge of the Marramarra National Park. Bring a snack for the turn around point.

Returning via the same route for a second ferry crossing we pause for coffee at Berowra Heights before rejoining the Pacific Highway. We leave the highway at the Bobbin Head turnoff to ride the last 5km home on the eastern side of the railway back to Hornsby.

This ride has long and steep descents requiring riders to be skilled in safe cornering and descending technique. Similarly there are long climbs (4kms with average gradients of 4-6% with sections at 8-10%) on this ride requiring a certain capability to do the ride comfortably at the advertised pace.

This ride is in bushland areas and can be very hot in summer. Riders should ensure that they have plenty of water and food to consume enroute. Additionally other potential issues may arise with hazard reduction burning and summer bushfire threats.

The ferry is normally under maintenance for part of the second Tues in the month so check operating times to avoid disappointment if riding midweek.
