Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is one of the most popular national parks in NSW, with over 3 million visits each year. The existing plan of management for Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Lion Island Nature Reserve, Long Island Nature Reserve and Spectacle Island Nature Reserve was written in 2002. Since that time there has been a steady increase in visitors coming to the park. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service believes that good planning is essential to meet increasing demand and continue to improve visitor facilities to maximise opportunities and minimise impacts.
NPWS is preparing a new plan of management for Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and has announced a consultation process. Details are available at: https://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/topics/parks-reserves-and-protected-areas/park-management/community-engagement/ku-ring-gai-chase-national-park-consultation
Bike North members will know Ku-ring-gai Chase, both the Bobbin Head section and the Akuna Bay-West Head section, as amongst our most popular and scenic cycling routes. Many other cyclists also enjoy these environments.
Bike North will be making a submission (as will Bicycle NSW). We need your ideas and suggestions for improved and safer cycling within the Park. Please email your thoughts to Justin Holmwood firstname.lastname@example.org by the end of August. Justin will then work with our Communications Manager, Darryn Capes-Davis, to finalise our submission.
This is an important opportunity to advance cycling. We want your opinions!
