Supporting people who want to ride

Bike North Member Daniel (pictured) says he was very athletic before he lost his sight.  Even today, he runs half-marathons, tethered with a sighted person.  He’s not letting blindness hold him back.

So it was no surprise that Daniel was one of the Pino participants on our recent ride, Looking for Lilies.

Two 'single' riders signed up for the ride and enjoyed the company and conversations, as always, as well as the ride and the coffee.  We had three Pino tandems, all driven by Bike North members - called ‘Pilots’.  The passengers - ’Stokers’ - were all Bike North members too.  We hope you get a chance to see them on a ride sometime soon.

Nowra Weekend

In 2024, the Nowra weekend will be Thursday 7 to Sunday 10 November.

All New Rides

This year all the routes are brand new! All the dinners are at places we have never been to in previous years. So, even if you have been to Nowra before, please consider coming again.

Cycle across the new Nowra Bridge

The bridge is completed. Transport NSW has spent $342 million on the bridge across the Shoalhaven River. There is a great cycle path on the west side of the bridge. Come and try it out.

Scenery from the Saddle

Trails can be very surprising.  Despite quite a lot of rain recently, Perimeter and Long Trails were very ridable, when we tackled them recently.

The wildflowers were delightful, the views were stunning, and we had it all to ourselves, apart from a couple of horse riders.  The turn-around point overlooking Coal and Candle Creek makes a lovely spot for a rest, a nibble and a chat. What a lovely ride.

We were on MTBs, but gravel bikes with tyres wider than 38mm would have been fine.  There’s just the one steep hill - about 30m in length - that I still haven't succeeded in riding all the way up.  It’s not hard to dismount and push the bike up, though.

Many of the fire-trails around Sydney have been graded and made easy to ride on, perhaps in readiness for the bushfire season.  The heat must surely be coming soon, so now is the time to get out and enjoy our scenery, from the saddle.

Wow!Photography Ride #2

We held our second Wow!Photography ride on Sunday 27 October, this time "focussing" on the Inner City Area. It was a lovely sunny day and a great opportunity to exchange ideas for improved photography.

All riders enjoyed themselves with some hidden talents emerging. One photographer even survived an amazing contortion to capture one shot!

Thanks to all who attended, namely Helen, Josef, Lian, Marjorie, May-Lee, Russell, and Sunil, all ably led by Wendy.
Above is a photo of the Wow! group and below is a selection of photos from the day from our photographers.

Our next ride will be on a Saturday. Watch this space!
