Each year at our Annual General Meeting, Bike North members elect a Committee to control and manage the affairs of the club.
The Committee consists of eight members, being the President, Secretary, Treasurer and five ordinary committee members. The roles of President, Secretary and Treasurer are as you would expect:
The President is the face of the organization, representing the club externally. The President chairs the Committee and co-ordinates all functions within the club, and has fun while doing so!
The Secretary takes minutes at meetings, ensures our legal obligations are met by keeping our registrations, MOUs, insurances and documents current and maintains all the club’s current and archived records.
The Treasurer collects membership fees, records and reconciles all financial transactions, manages our funds and provides reports to the Committee monthly and to the membership annually about our financial standing.
Ordinary committee members are anything but ordinary! By agreement amongst Committee members, roles such as Membership, Advocacy, Rides, Communications, Skills & Safety, Social and other ad hoc projects are divvied up to enable everyone to participate.
Committee members commit to fulfilling agreed tasks and to attend monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of every month (except for January), 7.30-9.30pm at Gladesville Library.
The elections at the AGM provide an opportunity for any active member of Bike North to get more involved in the club by contributing their ideas and skills.
Whether you are a new or long-time member of Bike North, you would be welcome to stand for election for the Committee.
Bring along your skills or interest in advocacy, marketing, social media, video making, submission writing, administration, technology, skills development, training, organizing tours… Whatever skill you have, we can put it to good use!
To join the Committee, have two active Bike North members nominate you using this form and submit to the Returning Officer by pm on Saturday 3 August. Then attend the AGM for the vote!
