Long Endurance Climbing Ride – Three Peaks Training Route.
***Be considerate. Ride starts at 6.30am ON THE DOT. (Please be punctual) . Ride Briefing at 6.25am. For the sake of other riders we will not wait for late comers.
***Please do not consume any alcohol the night before. Any one suffering from hang over will be asked to leave the ride. More so for the Ride Leader (LOL)
Grand tour ride from Hornsby up Central Coast to Yarramalong valley and back. A double century with 3000m plus of elevation and plenty of sting up Bumble Hill
This ride features a series of sustained climbs, with Galston Gorge, Berowra Waters, Mount White, and Brooklyn as the opening act before tackling the infamous Bumble Hill, following a scenic cruise through Yarramalong Valley.
Expect a mix of bushland beauty and rolling countryside views throughout this challenging and rewarding route.
Purpose:
This ride is specifically designed as a training ride for Three Peaks or similar endurance events. It's also ideal for experienced riders who enjoy long, hilly days in the saddle.
Rider Suitability:
This ride is only suitable for extremely fit and experienced cyclists.
You should not attempt this ride unless you:
• Have comfortably completed multiple 100km+ hilly rides at a brisk pace
• Are confident with long climbs, technical descents, and self-managing fatigue or mechanical issues
Understand this is an endurance training ride, not a social roll
Rider Preparation:
Please arrive fully prepared. You must bring:
• A fully serviced bike in excellent working order
• 2 full water bottles
• Plenty of nutrition/snacks and gels
• 2 spare tubes
• A working pump or CO2 system
• Multitool and basic spares
• A willingness to get your hands dirty if a mechanical occurs
Contingency Planning:
All riders should pre-arrange alternate transport options in case of:
• Mechanical failure
• Illness, injury, or fatigue
This could include public transport access points or arranging friend/family pickup if needed. Ensure your phone is charged and you have access to your Opal card (or equivalent).
Bail out points for train:
1. North / South Train line (Sydney Metropolitan)
2. Central Coasts Train lines from Gosford to Wyong
3. Cowan and Brooklyn Train station on the way back to Hornsby
Additionally, you can turn around at any point and retrace the route. If you choose to leave the ride, please let the ride leader or sweep know BEFORE you leave the ride, ensuring the person acknowledges they heard you!
Coffee & Food Stops:
Coffee and rest stops will be confirmed at the pre-ride briefing, but options include:
1. Old Road Cafe – Fuel and Bio Break (˜ 58 km)
2,Optional stop at West Gosford for Food, water and toilet break at Jimmy G's or Legends Cafe
3. McDonald's Tuggerah or Wyong Milk Factory – Lunch stop
4. Kulnura General Store – Fuel & refill after Bumble Hill
5.Optional Stop at Waterfall Cafe on Sunday (Parklands Road , Somersby for food ) or Reptile Park for Water and Toilet
6. Pie in the Sky – Final fluid or toilet break before the roll home

All riders wear an approved helmet and carry water, at least one spare tube plus a pump.

Riders must not attend if sick, have Covid-19, influenza or symptoms of any communicable disease.
Social media
While on Bike North rides and activities, you may be photographed or videoed. Photographs and videos
may be used by Bike North for social media or promotional purposes. If participants do not wish to be
included in social media, they should make it known at the beginning of the activity or as soon as possible
and other participants must respect their wishes.
