The Hills Shire is one of the fastest changing areas of Sydney. Previously a dormitory area for tradies with long commutes by road, the Shire has experienced huge development in businesses, higher density residential development and a new metro line. Cycling has not been a significant transport option given the geography and long commutes.

Bike North’s Hornsby Advocacy Group is currently assisting Hornsby Council with the development of a new Bicycle Plan for the Shire and, with others, is advising Council about the optimum route for the proposed Epping to Pennant Hills Cycleway and the cycling requirements for the new Hornsby Park site.

The Bike North Ryde Working Group advises Ryde Council on all things cycling related, such as recommending major and minor infrastructure projects and maintenance works, and reviewing engineering plans for proposed cycling facilities.
